Schwarze Milch 2023
3-channel Video installation, 20 min

Schwarze Milch deals with mythologies related to milk farming, racism, and witches from the Steiermark mountains. The work blends contemporary personal experiences into a nonlinear, glitchy, and vibrant history. It draws on Sage being oral tale that combine real reporting with magic, making it an early form of docufiction. Drawing on Sagen about milk witches, the film treats milk as a motif for the perversions of agriculture and its violent transformations. Echoing the late Middle Ages, when tales of witchcraft governed relations between society and its fringes, the work reimagines these myths with a feminist lens where superstition, oppression, and ecology collide.
